Ferrara Manufacturing’s adaptability and commitment to community were highlighted by DuPont in their feature on how we shifted from high-end fashion to producing lifesaving PPE at the height of the pandemic.
When NYC faced a critical shortage of protective equipment in March 2020, Ferrara Manufacturing transitioned from crafting luxury garments and Olympic uniforms to producing Tyvek® Level 1 and Level 3 isolation gowns for hospitals across the country. Through DuPont’s #TyvekTogether initiative, we manufactured over 400,000 Tyvek® gowns, combining advanced material performance with our expertise in tailoring for fit, safety, and comfort.
As our COO, Gabrielle Ferrara, explained: “We applied decades of sourcing and development expertise to find the perfect fabric for PPE, balancing protection and wearer comfort. DuPont™ Tyvek® stood out for its quality, and our customers consistently praise the products we’ve created with it.”
This pivot not only met the urgent demands of the pandemic but also gave rise to Ferrara Supply, a division focused on protective garments. By the end of 2020, we delivered nearly 3 million isolation gowns, masks, booties, and surgical caps across the U.S., bringing the same care and precision to PPE as we do to fashion.
We’re honored to have partnered with DuPont to protect frontline workers during one of the most challenging moments in recent history.
